HOw it started.......
Ever wondered what you could do to make the world a slightly better place? Me either.... At least, that was up until a few weeks ago.
Hi! My name is Jo and I have been working with children, young people and adults with additional needs for almost 20 years across a residential home and a local school.
In that time I have assisted them to access facilities within the community and noticed that there is a heavy reliance on being able to get to these places via public transport or supplied transport from healthcare companies. This got me thinking....
What if there was a mobile unit that supplied person centred sensory experiences for these individuals?
Why specifically sensory? I hear people asking.
Throughout my time working with children and young people with additional needs, I have seen them struggle with busy environments but also respond positively via items that spark their senses. I want to provide a safe space for young people to access a calming environment where they can develop their communication, their awareness of how to navigate the world, or somewhere to just chill.
It did not take long for the decision to be made, so now the journey begins............
